Real People. Real Relationships. Stronger Local Business.

More than networking – a friendly, member-led community where businesses thrive through shared experience, trusted referrals, and meaningful collaboration.

Experience BTR for yourself

We love local business. For more than 800 years, Salisbury has been a place where people come together to build, grow and prosper.  That same spirit continues today.

Business Through Referrals (BTR) is a long-established network of local business owners who connect, support, and learn from one another. We believe that business is built on people, not transactions. From home-based sole traders to high street entrepreneurs, we understand the pressures, challenges and rewards of running a business in the real world.

It can be demanding, and it can be lonely – but it doesn’t have to be done alone. At BTR, we create a welcoming space where trusted relationships form naturally, ideas are shared openly, and businesses grow through connection, collaboration and shared experience.

Whoever you are, and wherever you are in your journey, you are welcome to visit a meeting and see how we work. We meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month, 6.45am–8.30am.

Why join BTR

BTR is built on a simple idea: business grows faster and feels better when it’s shared.

We’re not just a networking group – we’re a community of local business owners who meet regularly to build relationships, exchange ideas and support growth.

Trusted relationships that generate real opportunity

At BTR, referrals are built on understanding and trust – not obligation or pressure. By getting to know each other properly, members create meaningful introductions that lead to genuine, long-term business opportunities.

Shared experience that strengthens decision-making

Running a business can feel isolating. BTR brings together people who understand that reality – offering practical insight, honest conversations, and collective experience that helps members navigate challenges with greater confidence.

Consistent connection that builds momentum

Meeting regularly turns relationships into something stronger. Over time, conversations become collaboration, and familiarity becomes confidence – creating the conditions where opportunity grows naturally.

A supportive environment for every stage of business

From new entrepreneurs to established business owners, everyone brings something valuable. BTR is a space where experience is shared freely, and where members learn from one another as much as they contribute.

A stronger local business community

When local businesses are better connected, the whole community benefits. BTR helps strengthen Salisbury’s business ecosystem by encouraging collaboration, visibility and long-term trust between professionals.

What Our Members Say

Leo Hanna

“I’ve been with BTR for several years. From my very first meeting I was welcomed with open arms. I had no networking experience and wasn’t sure what to expect, but the group immediately made me feel comfortable. What stands out is how relaxed it is – no pressure, no forced referrals, just genuine relationships. We support each other, share knowledge, and grow together as businesses and individuals.”

Andrew Duma

“I started my business during Covid, and before joining BTR I worked in isolation. Connecting with other businesses has helped me grow in confidence and opened new opportunities. I value the sense of belonging and the quality of people – and I look forward to each meeting, learning something new, and meeting guests and members. It’s not just about leads but real friendships, support and trusted connections.”

Karen Deighton

“This was my experience of BTR: a gentle arrival of members catching up over coffee, followed by a warm, informal welcome and simple introductions. No polished pitches – just real people sharing who they really are. After breakfast: a useful talk from a local expert, then updates, thanks and handshakes all round. I left feeling energised, supported and genuinely connected. A great way to start the day: making new friends.”

How we work together

We believe that business works best when people come together – openly, honestly, and with mutual respect. We’re a community of local business owners who value conversation over pitch, relationships over transactions, and long-term trust over short-term gain.

Meetings are welcoming, relaxed and member-led. We communicate as people first – business comes naturally through getting to know one another properly. There’s no need to perform or be ‘perfect’ – just show up, be yourself, and participate.

Different backgrounds, experiences and stages of business are not just accepted, they’re valued. Everyone brings something different, and everyone has something to learn as well as something to offer.

Over time, what develops is much more than a network – it’s a circle of trusted relationships, shared understanding and genuine support between people who want to see each other succeed.

Is it business? Yes. Is it belonging? Absolutely.
